Early Explorers
FREE creative outdoor fun and early learning fun for West End families on Mondays 1-2.30pm, during term-time.
Led by creative facilitator & Forest School leader Jyl Friggens, this session is suitable for pre-school and home schooled 2-8 year olds (younger siblings also welcome), helping to build foundations for learning and connection with our natural environment. Fun learning and developmental activities include clay work, mark making, weaving, tinkering, potion making, creating and reading stories, finding creatures and using imagination, especially in our very popular mud kitchen!
We'll be out in our newly developed Butterfly Garden with veg beds, digging area, mud kitchen and shelter, but also exploring the wider garden, creating and sharing. Come along in clothes suitable for the weather that you don't mind getting dirty (please wear long sleeves and trousers as our wildlife environment can be a bit wild!). We have spare jackets, wellies and hats you can borrow while you're here if you need them to keep you warm, dry and occasionally out of the sun!
We can reimburse public transport costs for families and we aim to make our activities as accessible as possible so those with varying needs and abilities can join the fun!
Feel free to just turn up and join in, however our temporary entrance can be tricky to find, so call the office if you can't find us! 0191 275 0000
PLEASE NOTE: We are not running during January and February 2025. Last session Monday 16 December 2024.
