Chip Cherries/Redlead Roundhead (leratiomyces ceres)
This lovely little fungus is also sometimes known as "Redlead Roundhead". It loves to grow in woodchip or under pine trees, which is exactly where we found it at Scotswood Garden. In the UK, it tends to be seen between June and October.
It has a pale stem and you can sometimes see a delicate white fringe at the bottom of the red cap. This fringe is known as a veil by mushroom experts!
